China remains a global leader in the transition to electric mobility, and Audi’s displays at Auto Shanghai reflect its ambition to lead locally and globally in this significant market shift. From mid-2025 onwards, Audi will significantly expand its China-specific offerings, featuring vehicles developed on the Premium Platform Electric, Premium Platform Combustion, and the Advanced Digitized Platform created in collaboration with SAIC. These platforms will introduce greater flexibility in propulsion types and enhanced digital experiences tailored specifically to the Chinese market.

CEO Döllner stated, “2025 represents the beginning of an important new chapter for Audi in China. At Auto Shanghai, we are launching the largest model initiative in our history, including vehicles specifically designed for the Chinese market alongside our local partners FAW and SAIC. Additionally, our new China-exclusive AUDI brand enables us to appeal to even broader customer segments.”

Audi A5L and A5L Sportback

The Audi A5L, developed and distributed by FAW Audi, features an extended wheelbase (77 mm longer than its international counterparts), significantly enhancing interior space. Equipped with ultra-modern combustion engines utilizing 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, the A5L balances performance and efficiency, complemented by an advanced digital cockpit.

SAIC Audi’s version, the A5L Sportback, shares the Premium Platform Combustion technology but distinguishes itself with unique rear-end styling and comprehensive digital ecosystems tailored specifically to Chinese customers, along with advanced driver-assistance systems.

Audi Q5L

The Audi Q5L offers a substantial 125 mm increase in wheelbase over the global version, improving interior comfort. It also includes advanced mild-hybrid engines, promising dynamic performance alongside increased efficiency.

Audi A6L e-tron

The fully electric Audi A6L e-tron joins the previously released Q6L e-tron models. Produced locally at the Audi FAW NEV Company in Changchun, it boasts a spacious interior with a 132 mm longer wheelbase and an impressive range of up to 770 kilometers, thanks to its larger 107 kWh battery and 800-volt electric technology.

AUDI E5

Lastly, the AUDI E5 Sportback represents the debut model of Audi’s new sister brand, developed jointly with SAIC. This fully electric vehicle combines Audi’s premium design and performance with China’s advanced digital ecosystem. With up to 579 kW of power, the E5 Sportback accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and also offers a 770-kilometer range. Its unique styling, advanced quattro all-wheel-drive system, adaptive air suspension, and innovative digital interior set it apart distinctly within Audi’s offerings.

Marco Schubert, Audi’s Board Member for Sales and Marketing, emphasized the importance of these launches, stating, “Our refreshed lineup in China is designed to excite existing customers and attract new audiences. With premium mobility, tailored digital features, and advanced infotainment systems, we believe Chinese customers will find much to look forward to.”
